Azzedine Alaïa is a Tunisian-born couturier and shoe designer that has been particularly
successful since the 1980s. He is best known for his svelte, clinging garments that fit like a
second skin, which has granted him the name of the King
of Cling by the
fashion press in the 1980s. Alaïa strives for perfection in cut, drape,
and construction, preferring to work directly on the body to achieve a perfect
fit. Although his clothes appear simple, many contain numerous discrete components. All are constructed with raised, corsetry stitching and curved seaming to achieve a
perfect sculptural form. His Fall 2011 can be viewed here: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/review/F2011CTR-ALAIA/
